December 2013 Ice Storm Nature Photos – Columbia, MO

I spent the afternoon wandering our backyard with my 100mm macro lens, in search of photos that show the beauty (and bounty!) of the recent ice storm in Columbia, MO. Here are some of my favorites… it’s amazing how transformed the landscape seems with just a layer of ice!

Fine Art Floral Photography – Tiger Lily Flower with Dew Drops – Columbia, MO

Here’s one of my favorite macro photos of a pale pink tiger lily flower with dew drops from a walk in Columbia, MO a few months ago… it’s not quite eligible for the Floral Intimacy project, but I think it’s quite pretty nonetheless.  :)

Living on Snow Pond in Concord, NH was one of the best experiences of my life… as a nature photographer, you just couldn’t beat the daily dose of reflection, color, and life on the pond. Here are some recent favorites from a trip back this past autumn…

From the Archives… Cage-Free Turkey Processing for Thanksgiving

Just came across this photo I shot for a story on a cage-free turkey farmer in NH for the Monitor… Thanksgiving is coming up, and if you’re going to eat turkey (and I always do!), please consider purchasing your bird from a local farm where you know that the animal was raised humanely and processed…

Finding fall color in maple leaves – Mount Auburn Cemetery

A few fall foliage favorites from our last few days in New England this past month. Happy to be back home in the Midwest for the wedding offseason, but already missing that crisp New England air.  ;)  Till next year, New Hampshire…

Bearded Tooth Mushroom in Vermont!

While hiking in Vermont a few weeks ago, we came across this bearded tooth mushroom!  I’ve never seen one in person before, but I have eaten one, and they are delicious!  We didn’t harvest this one, as I don’t trust my mushroom identification skills… but I’m pretty sure this is definitely bearded tooth.  ;)

Concord, NH Photography – Rain Rain Go Away – Rainbow Umbrella!

So, I guess 2012 was the year of the drought, and this year is the monsoon season!  It’s rained more since we arrived in Concord for weddings than I’ve ever seen before.  At least I have this lovely rainbow umbrella to brighten the day.  ;)

Macro Nature Photography – Floral Intimacy – Hibiscus Architecture

I had no idea that the inside of a hibiscus flower was so stunning!  Here are a few of my favorite macro photos of hibiscus that I shot while working on a commercial shoot for the D. McLeod Florist here in Concord, NH…
